Project start & surface review

Every project begins with the location, approximate wall dimensions, photos, and the intended result. We review the existing surface and surrounding architecture before discussing an approach to artwork preparation and direct-to-wall printing.

Artwork preparation

Clients may bring an idea or existing artwork. UAF can also develop custom artwork for the space. Preparation considers scale, placement, available source files, and how the design relates to the wall and nearby architectural details.

Installation coordination & carpentry

Installation planning considers the site, the surface, access, and coordination with the space. Where a project calls for it, wall printing can be integrated with custom carpentry or signage, as shown in the completed Elsie’s Sub Shop project.

These details help UAF understand the scope. Quote factors can include wall dimensions, surface condition and texture, artwork preparation, installation coordination, and any related fabrication or signage.

Practical questions before a wall-printing project

Can I supply existing artwork?

Yes. Share the artwork or source files you have, along with a photo and approximate dimensions of the wall. UAF can review what preparation may be needed for the intended placement. If you have an idea rather than finished artwork, custom artwork can also be developed for the project.

Can wall printing work on a textured surface?

Surface texture and condition are reviewed for each project rather than treated as universally suitable. The completed Garden of Eatin’ project shows artwork prepared for and printed directly onto Krust Café’s rough-stucco exterior wall.

What should I send to start a conversation?

Send the project location, approximate wall dimensions, clear photos of the surface and surrounding space, and a description of your idea. Include existing artwork or source files if you have them.

What can affect a quote?

The discussion may consider wall dimensions, surface condition and texture, artwork preparation, site access, installation coordination, and whether custom carpentry, signage, or other fabrication is part of the finished installation.
